i saw a thread about watching from anime sources but it wasn't updated since 2015.. so i wanted to bring up the idea again? i love syncvideo but there's nowhere i can watch anime sites with my friend. thanks in advance !
For example if another user claimed ownership of my /tv/ room, and I log in the ownership is set to me and the video gets reset to 00:00. really annoying if you're watching a movie.
Sync frame and second jumps suggestion
I/We like to record our MMO Raid fights then watch them as group to try and improve.
This service is great for that, however it would seam that when watching youtube, you pause the video, then use the arrow keys ()left and right) to jump 5 seconds and , and . to jump frame by frame those jumps are not synced to the other viewers.
It makes it kinda annoying slapping spacebar when your trying to optimize timing between 8 people where 1.5 seconds is important.
Pop Out Chat Element suggestion
I use relatively old hardware so have less room on my screen for elements. If i could pop out the chat element I could arrange windows on top of each other such that I can see more of the video player while still being able to follow the chat, so I thought I'd suggest it in case it would be useful to others as well.
Add Next button suggestion
My suggestion is a button similar to the "Play Next" feature in iTunes, where there's a second button beside the + button that only the Owner of the room can use that adds the video directly to the next position in the playlist regardless of any other videos that are already queued. This way if you have a long playlist and want to play a video inbetween the current video and the next you can just add it this way instead of having to add it, scroll to the bottom of the playlist and start it manually, and then go back to where you were and start the next video manually.
I want to play back files hosted by google video and i think blogpost also. The files themselves are MP4, and the MIME type announces this, but when i try to play it on sync-video, it won't play back because the extension isn't .mp4 or .flv. It would be neat if the server could grab the file headers and determine from there the MIME type. I don't think it's more costly for the server to do it this way.
An example is https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/1c-xcTxfallAHl93TZWuuaduUc5ADUMIutuoEGFH1Rem=m18
There's a chance that the URL redirects to another one, but I don't think it would be costly to server-side follow the redirect down a single level and check the MIME there.
Voice functionality suggestion
It would be cool for the OP to be able to talk to everyone in the room, kind of like a radio station.
You could talk for a short while in between songs and allow other people in the room to "call into the show" and mess around.
